Star Wars fans will find plenty to like, but Zero Company is built from the ground up for XCOM fans, offering plenty of new options and a satisfyingly addictive gameplay loop.

I loved my time with Star Wars Zero Company and will be going back for another playthrough very soon. Between the flexibility offered by the combat, the Operations not taken, and the lives lost (we miss you, Druw), Zero Company invites players back for hours and hours.  Fans of the tactics genre will find a love letter to everything that makes them special. I would also recommend Zero Company to anyone who wants to be introduced to tactics games, as its beginner-friendly tutorial is very robust. Fans of Star Wars, meanwhile, will find a fantastic narrative with appropriate stakes in the universe that stands alone as just a good damn story. As for me, I am just a fan of Zero Company.

Star Wars Zero Company is a cinematic and engaging gateway into the tactical genre, capable of captivating those who seek a grand narrative in the Star Wars universe, even if they’ve never been interested in this type of game before. However, the lack of depth in its builds, difficulty balancing issues, and the scarcity of endgame content prevent it from reaching the level of the genre’s giants, despite coming very close.

To sum up 'Star Wars: Zero Company', it is a title that successfully translates the captivating universe of the 'Star Wars' films into a game. While it certainly borrows heavily from other polished SRPGs—and admittedly falls a bit short in terms of strategic depth—it feels well-designed to be accessible and approachable for a wide range of gamers. However, there are certainly issues such as optimization that need to be addressed. While I’ve given it a score of 7 for now due to these factors, it is a title that could easily reach an 8 or even a 9 with continued refinement.

At the time of writing this review, I’ve spent just under ten hours with *Zero Company*, and it’s already clear to me that this is one of the best *Star Wars* games in recent years. The tactical foundation is solid, the Advantage System gives it its own distinct flavor, and you genuinely grow attached to your squad. It may not be as deep as *XCOM*, but it comfortably earns its place in the genre. What I find disappointing are the sluggish third-person sections, the meager selection of just four primary weapons, and, above all, the technical performance, which noticeably lags behind the rest of the experience. Still, if you enjoy turn-based tactics or are a *Star Wars* fan looking for an accessible entry point into the genre, it’s definitely worth picking up.

Star Wars: Zero Company is an fun turn-based strategy game that successfully blends the engaging systems of XCOM with the aesthetics and identity of the Star Wars universe, offering an interesting story, likable characters, and deep yet accessible mechanics. However, the PC version suffers from poor optimization, with bugs, stuttering, and unreliable graphical settings holding back an otherwise excellent experience.

Star Wars Zero Company proves that Bit Reactor's XCOM pedigree was no accident, delivering a tactical combat system built on smart action-point management, satisfying specialization combos, and mission design that keeps throwing new pressures at you mid-fight. The resource loop between missions adds real weight to every decision, even when the story carrying you between battles never quite rises above serviceable. Fans of turn-based tactics and the wider Star Wars universe will find plenty to love here, minor narrative shortcomings and all.

Star Wars Zero Company is an excellent tactical game that does a fantastic job of slathering on the same cinematic look and feel we saw in Respawn's Star Wars Jedi games, incorporating strong characters and a storyline that's refreshingly centered on non-Force users and a non-traditional villain.

Zero Company is not as explicitly political as Andor, but like the show, it very much feels influenced by the time in which it was created.

Star Wars is a rich playground for games, with loads of differentiated hero and enemy types and powers baked in, and Zero Company takes full advantage of that to make an excellent tactics game in its own right. In doing so, it has made the next great evolution of the genre.

After an eternity of modding XCOM into Star Wars, we finally have the tactics game from a galaxy far, far away that we deserve. Star Wars: Zero Company is an excellent addition to the saga that isn't scared of taking risks, and joins Andor and Rogue One in the pantheon of tales about high-risk covert operations, living up to the reputation of its peers. Occasional balancing and interface issues only keep a great game from being perfect, but when the blasters start singing, it all comes together.

Star Wars Zero Company is kind of a bummer, because there’s a fun tactical RPG here that manages to run a gamut from hardcore to friendly, thanks to an array of settings and well-designed mechanics that work in either direction. But man is it ever bogged down in some of the most uninspired Star Wars-themed storytelling and character work I’ve ever dealt with.

Star Wars Zero Company is one of those rare examples where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The solidity of its turn-based tactical combat blends seamlessly with the team members' progression mechanics, the team management aspect, and all the different narratives it weaves-from the overarching plot to the small personal stories. Each system, taken individually, is more than good, but it's the way they influence one another (mirroring the relationships between the game's characters) that elevates the experience and makes every battle (or every decision) feel like the most important one yet.

Star Wars Zero Company is the overlapping center of a venn diagram with Star Wars in one circle, and XCOM-style tactical combat in the other. It doesn’t take either one in bold, new directions, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is not XCOM in a Star Wars costume, because the mechanics, setting, and narrative are more than surface level. Star Wars Zero Company is a substantial addition to both the Clone Wars canon and the tactical strategy genre.

For a tactical game, the presentation and writing are polished and surprising, so much so that we would have loved to learn more about Zero Company and its mostly intriguing characters.
