Just like the first game, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is fun with friends, and for short play sessions of a few missions and moving the campaign forward. If there’s a third game in the works, it really needs to change up the formula.
Although it can get grindy and the shopkeeping aspects feel a little slow at times, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault offers a lot of entertainment for both action-roguelike fans and cozy economic sim devotees.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is such a refreshing action game, with focus on its combat systems and cinematic narrative. In those respects, it sets a high standard for all other video games.
Lou’s Lagoon delivers a wonderfully comforting mix of lighthearted aviation, easygoing resource collection, and engaging mystery.
Star Wars Zero Company is the overlapping center of a venn diagram with Star Wars in one circle, and XCOM-style tactical combat in the other. It doesn’t take either one in bold, new directions, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is not XCOM in a Star Wars costume, because the mechanics, setting, and narrative are more than surface level. Star Wars Zero Company is a substantial addition to both the Clone Wars canon and the tactical strategy genre.
With Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Asobo has shifted confidently towards action and combat, while preserving their reputation for excellent performances and outstanding visuals.
It’s not a bad game. It’s just a competent one. In today’s crowded gaming marketplace, where gamers have higher expectations, War In The North is a tough sell. It will appeal to Lord of the Rings fans and those who have some nostalgia attached to the original game.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam isn’t ready for deployment. Hell, as it stands right now, it’s about as ready as Gomer Pyle was on his way to basic training.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 features some of the best games in the series. MGS 4 is without doubt a masterpiece, and this port improves on the original by adding a locked frame rate.
All in all, this is a game designed for a niche audience that will love it. If you think Fire Emblem doesn’t have enough base building and Disgaea is only slightly too much of a number cruncher, Brigandine Abyss might be up your alley.
All in all, OVER REQUIEMZ is a very solid otome game that made me eager to see more of its tormented main cast. Here’s hoping there’s a second game.
Starsand Island’s 1.0 release is a massive leap forward from its Early Access foundation. The addition of 4-player co-op, Steam Workshop mod support, rich NPC interactions, and sweeping quality of life upgrades make it one of the most versatile life sims available.
It’s one of those games where a developer’s enthusiasm for a genre leads to a perfect alignment of fresh and familiar. Twisted Tower is a must-play for fans of BioShock, classic first-person shooters, haunted carnivals, and evil amusement parks.
The Sinking City 2 might not appear as slick as other modern survival horror games, like the Silent Hill 2 remake, or Cronos: The New Dawn. But it feels more unique with its combination of 1920s Lovecraftian narrative, detective mechanics, and traditional survival horror elements.
Mortal Shell 2 is such an immensely impressive upgrade from the original that I wanted it to be flawless. Of course, it isn’t. However, issues with pacing, opacity, occasional difficulty spikes, and bugs are dwarfed by Cold Symmetry’s overall achievement.
After playing Creepshow I’m still not convinced it wanted to be an actual game.
The game is a story-driven one. If you are looking for an action game, look elsewhere. If you are looking for an engrossing story done with great artwork and sound, plus a clever UI, RUNT delivers. It must be emphasized that this is a brutal game dealing with mature themes.
