Overall, Denshattack! is a unique outing that's fast and fun. Pulling off tricks using a train is such a strange concept, but it works really well. The team has built a wonderful world, putting a twist on the skating genre and coupling it with neat characters and an anime style. If my review hasn't convinced you, there's even a free demo to check out.
Ground Zero Hero is an addictive experience full of zany humor. It takes the Vampire Survivors concept and adds its own twist along plenty of chatoic on-screen action.
Rhapsody does have its share of b-side issues. It can feel dated, with its various gameplay elements not coming off as balanced. And its theme, while unique, is not immune to its own clichés and preponderance of chats. It may prove more memorable for its music (albeit an acquired taste) than its plot. But how many other RPGs let you control a puppeteer battling her way through a BBQ restaurant while laughably breaking the fourth wall? Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure should find an audience on Nintendo Switch 2, whether it's new players, returning ones, or a mix of both.
Not all of the games that comprise BLUE REFLECTION Quartet will satisfy JRPG fans, but the tentpole entries are fun. Combat is engaging, albeit too easy, and the characters and stories are surprisingly relatable to those of us who typically don't leave our villages to overthrow kingdoms or defeat the gods on a regular basis.
Whether players will enjoy Helix: Descent N Ascent will likely be determined by how far the visuals carry them. The game is striking to look at, but the complexity of the environment and the ambiguity of the puzzles hurt this otherwise unique entry in the puzzle/adventure genre.
eFootball Kick-Off took me by surprise. The clean user interface welcomes players of all abilities. The visuals are neat, the controls straightforward, and there are plenty of modes to keep you busy – all for a decent price. Now that the World Cup is over, this is the next best thing.
Overall, Splatoon Raiders is a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Not that it really needed it, but after three entries, it's great to see this world of interesting characters expanding. The only remaining question is what's next: Splatoon Raiders 2 or Splatoon 4?
Isekai Villain has an intriguing premise, but struggles to follow through in-game due to multiple glaring missed opportunities to enhance the story world, gameplay, and sense of player ownership over the action. This is compounded by convoluted skill and trade mechanics that feel designed to channel players towards premium in-game purchases.
With Halloween around the corner (and summerween not quite over), it's the perfect time to dive into the cozy, spooky, life-sim Moonlight Peaks and let your farming expertise take over.
Overall, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a wonderful update to a great game, pushing it into excellent territory. If you're a fan of JRPGs, do yourself a favor and play this. And probably the others, too. You know, when you have a few hundred hours to spare.
If you need a time waster and you're fond of sidescrollers, Dark Scrolls is an OK entry that can keep you busy for a while at a budget friendly price-point. It does the job for which it is designed, but the execution is a bit lackluster.
Junkster is a cute 3D puzzle game with a very fun design and interesting challenges to face, slightly let down by its slightly clunky controls and missed opportunities to develop the story world.
If you're new to the series, let Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition be your introduction. This wonderfully campy action game throws as much into the Switch 2 edition as the characters do at their enemies, making it both thrilling to learn and rewarding to master.
Call of the Elder Gods doesn't disappoint in gameplay or narrative. The puzzles may be more on the tricky side, but its optional hint system ensures you won't rage quit.
70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X is more about the experience than the gameplay. It was in '99 when released for PlayStation, and it is in '26 when reborn for Switch. Fans of '70s mech anime and Japanese entertainment in general will find plenty to adore, but those seeking 2D shooter combat may choose to change the channel.
Dave the Diver's latest DLC – the biggest yet – is a true triumph. It adds so much to the base game, it plays more like a sequel. I can't wait to see what the team is cooking up for Dave's next adventure.
Catto's Post Office is a charming, cozy adventure with a lot of heart, but its extremely short runtime and awkward controls hold it back. While the relaxing atmosphere and wholesome message are enjoyable, the experience ends just as it feels like it's getting started. It's a nice game for those looking for a brief, laidback adventure, but players hoping for something with a little depth may be left wanting more.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is one of the more unique, attractive, and immediately enjoyable JRPGs available for the Switch 2. The main story is not very long, but the game offers more than enough peripheral content to keep players busy for quite some time.
Rhythm Heaven Groove is a silly, addictive rhythm game that brings the same weird energy that fans of WarioWare will recognize. As my first experience with the series, I was surprised by how much fun its odd challenges and catchy gameplay offered.
