It's undeniable that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 maintains - and expands upon - the achievements of its predecessor, establishing itself as one of the best action experiences in the franchise. This doesn't mean, however, that it ceases to be a generic game: a title that leverages a well-established brand to deliver a common product, lacking great virtues and of little relevance to the universe it intends to belong to.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a fantastic return for one of the most promising franchises in the entire industry. With an excellent story and exceptional combat, Capcom hits the mark once again, delivering a title that is a true spectacle. Capturing the best of its blend of samurai and horror, it transforms into an exciting and action-packed experience that should be remembered as one of the best of the year.

Although it has some flaws in combat, The Blood of Dawnwalker delivers a solid and characterful experience. Its time management system, the freedom to explore, and the choices that shape Coen's journey are its greatest strengths and make Rebel Wolves' RPG stand out from other games in the genre.

The experience of Whisper of the House evokes a funny feeling of contradiction in me. As much as I want to highlight its ability to engage with a literally unexpected narrative, simple tasks, and comfortable routines, it's impossible not to notice that there are setbacks that hinder the whole and prevent the game from being everything I (very much) want it to be.

NBA The Run is an incredibly mediocre game that can be fun under certain specific conditions, but doesn't do anything particularly well. Unless you're a street basketball fanatic who can overlook a lot, there's not much to get out of it.

Zero Company is another great success in the Star Wars universe, largely due to its compelling story, captivating characters with a highly functional relationship system, and very comprehensive gameplay for the turn-based strategy genre. While some issues arise, such as technical aspects and a lack of balance in some combat options, XCOM fans will find an excellent opportunity here for both challenge and enjoyment.

Although Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy doesn't tell the story of Amicia and Hugo, it manages to offer a different perspective to the player. Not only are the graphics impressive, but also the combat, setting, and puzzles which, while becoming tiresome at times, prove to be intelligent and well-developed. This is, without a doubt, one of the best titles of the year.

In short, MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 is a must-have package for anyone who bought and enjoyed Vol. 1. Konami did a phenomenal job porting the titles, even though the games individually have their positive and negative quirks. When to buy it, however, depends much more on your attachment to or curiosity about these titles than on a recommendation to play them immediately. Otherwise, it's best to wait for a sale.

Shifting its approach to survival horror, The Sinking City 2 gets its inspirations right and closely follows the Resident Evil formula. Although the combat, the investigation and the character upgrades remain merely average and fail to fully realize their potential, the exploration and Lovecraftian atmosphere balance the scale toward a positive overall result.

Grim Trials is a competent roguelite that excels in build variety, a permanent progression system, dynamic combat, and an excellent soundtrack. The abundance of customization options adds depth to the experience and rewards players who enjoy experimenting with different strategies. On the other hand, the difficulty of the bosses makes progress slower and dependent on repeated farming sessions. While this is part of the genre's appeal, the pace can become tiring for some players. Still, its positive aspects outweigh the occasional frustrations, resulting in a solid experience for roguelite fans.

Mortal Shell II shows significant improvement over the first game, with more dynamic combat, great ideas, and an interesting world to explore. Despite some technical and design issues, the experience is quite enjoyable and shows Cold Symmetry's potential to continue developing the franchise. With a few adjustments, the game has everything to become one of the best soulslikes released in recent years.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls manages to bring its own identity to a classic genre. Interesting mechanics, well-developed characters, and excellent graphics. However, problems with the online modes, few interesting offline modes, and a relatively small cast prevent the title from shining as it should.

Duskfade delivers virtually everything you'd expect from an excellent 3D action-platformer: fluid movement, rewarding exploration, fun combat, creative bosses, beautiful art direction, and a narrative that successfully balances fantasy, mystery, and emotion. The game also stands out for respecting the player's pace, offering useful collectibles, good skill progression, and a rhythm that keeps everything consistently interesting. The adventure is incredibly captivating and recaptures the spirit of genre classics while building its own identity.

Beast of Reincarnation is a great game and shines in its gameplay with its various combat options. The story isn't bad, but its unfolding is slow to the point of being boring. Some technical issues with the frame rate (which will probably be fixed with updates) are also apparent. Finally, the bosses are amazing, but there's a bit of unnecessary repetition of them throughout the journey.

Reviewing this version is no easy task, as there are two different perspectives. Considering the whole picture, Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok is the definitive version of a modern classic and one of my favorite games of this generation, expanding and refining everything that was already great. However, viewed solely from the perspective of what it adds to the base game, it's a robust content, but it has high re-entry barrier, relies on repetitive endgame elements, and doesn't bring enough new features to transform the game, making it bigger, but not necessarily better.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a great opportunity to introduce impactful characters and stories to new enthusiasts and platforms, as well as deliver a fully updated experience for long-time fans. While in its best visual and technological version, and still bringing new features, the re-release suffers from dated and unimproved level design, as well as the missed opportunity for an online multiplayer experience that the title never had the chance to offer before.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game proves that the bending elements and fighting games were made for each other, delivering refined combat that respects both the source material and the high expectations of genre enthusiasts. However, the title stumbles on its own limitations, presenting a merely perfunctory narrative, a modest core cast, inconsistent art style, and single-player content that loses momentum too quickly. Nevertheless, there is an excellent foundation here, and it remains to be seen whether future content will allow the game to reach its true Avatar State.
