Orbitals is a fantastic game that uses its inspirations to the highest degree. The art design and aesthetic are a true triumph. Interlacing the cooperative video game genre with the themes of 80s and 90s mecha anime series is executed well.
At the end of the day, Crimson Moon doesn’t need to reinvent the Soulslike genre to be worth your time. It knows exactly what it wants to be, a quick, loot-heavy romp you can tackle solo or with a friend, and it does that well enough to earn a spot in your rotation. The camera hiccups and a few control quirks keep it from being a home run, but for $20, it’s an easy recommendation. Sometimes a game doesn’t have to blow you away to be worth playing, and Crimson Moon proves that.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an excellent dark fantasy RPG that combines meaningful choices, a clever time-management system and satisfying combat with a world that constantly encourages another playthrough. Rebel Wolves wears its Witcher 3 influence proudly, but this is a game with a strong identity of its own.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword successfully revives the series with rewarding swordplay, cinematic combat, and a compelling new protagonist. Uneven pacing, audio problems, awkward movement, and limited accessibility options keep this promising new beginning from reaching its full potential.
NBA 2K27 improves where it matters most, delivering smoother gameplay, better defence, more responsive movement, and an impressive overall presentation. MyCAREER Eras adds something genuinely fresh to the experience, while MyNBA and MyTEAM provide plenty of reasons to keep playing. Familiar frustrations surrounding VC, microtransactions, and The City remain, but the excellent on-court action makes NBA 2K27 one of the strongest entries in the series in recent years.
While Legacy of the Bloodmoon doesn't change Vampire Survivors' formula, it doesn't have to. Even with new characters, you'll still be filling the screen with indiscernible pixels as you stand still and try to watch enemies get obliterated underneath the 8-bit acid trip.
With two new classes exclusive to the Switch 2, FromSoftware brings the best day-one performance of Elden Ring I’ve ever seen. While the image quality, brightness, and ability to change the font size were lacking, this port runs incredibly well!
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy proves that this universe doesn’t need to belong exclusively to Amicia, Hugo or even the rats. There are other stories worth telling in this world, and if this is what Asobo can do with Sophia, then I genuinely hope the A Plague Tale Legacy name becomes an opportunity to explore even more of them.
Aggelos 2 is a great homage to the Wonderboy series and adds a new way to explore an open side-scrolling platformer by adding verticality and different realms to explore. There are some nitpicks that come with that kind of scope, but overall it is a solid experience.
BRIGANDINE ABYSS is an addictive time. You can organize a plethora of troops to accomplish a lot of goals all at once. Taking over the continent is a big swig of dopamine. It might have some edges that need to be sanded, but it is enjoyable.
Mortal Shell II takes everything that worked in the original and turns it into a much stronger, more confident Soulslike. The deeper Shell system, satisfying combat, and rewarding exploration stand out, and despite the camera issues and some frustrating progression choices, none of those issues stopped me from having a damn good time with it. This is fantastic follow-up and Cold Symmetry has seated themselves at the big table with Mortal Shell II.
The Sinking City 2 may fall shy of becoming the definitive Lovecraftian video game, but it’s definitely an evocative love letter to cosmic horror. Combat works well enough, but it’s the puzzles, narrative, and submerged world that shine from the depths, beckoning survival horror fans to give this game a go.
Return to Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition. After 15 years, this action RPG gets another chance to shine with improved features, co-op gameplay, and a story that explores a different side of Tolkien’s world.
Kynseed is a wonderfully quirky life simulation RPG filled with farming, exploration, relationships and adventure. Its charming world, memorable characters and sense of discovery make it a fantasy kingdom I genuinely didn’t want to leave.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a visually impressive palate cleanser after Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, delivering the kind of style and energy Arc System Works is known for. While the PC version struggled at launch, the PS5 version shows plenty of promise for this new chapter of Marvel fighting games.
Duskfade wears its Kingdom Hearts inspiration proudly, blending fast-paced combat with collectathon platforming and a charming time-themed world. While its slow progression and lack of a map can frustrate, it’s still a fun, brisk adventure that does enough to establish an identity of its own.
Flightpath: Adventures in Venaris is a fun time and a really great execution of unique ideas in a Shoot-em-up.
Madden NFL 27 delivers an impressive presentation, deeper Franchise and Superstar modes, and more customisation in Ultimate Team. While the Xbox Series X experience looks fantastic and offers plenty to enjoy, some familiar frustrations remain, leaving me with mixed feelings about whether this year’s Madden does enough to move the series forward.
Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation is an ambitious, genuinely satisfying action RPG built around fast, forgiving parry-based combat and a standout companion in Koo. Exploration, art direction, and the game’s boss soundtrack are all highlights, backed by roughly 30+ hours of content for players who like to explore. Camera issues, collision bugs, inconsistent handheld performance, and a total lack of accessibility options hold it back from greatness, but none of it stops this from being one of Game Freak’s best efforts yet.
BLUE REFLECTION Quartet is a four-game collection, but it is more accurate to call it four experiences. BLUE REFLECTION and BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light are full games, but the other two in the collection are more condensed ways to tell the story of that original media. It does build up to a much more definitive Second Light experience.
