A much darker Mafia 2 ending that was cut from the final version of the game has been found and restored thanks to the recent Steam leak.
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Steam was recently hit with a massive leak that caused 12 TB worth of data from hundreds of games to be mined and made public. While nothing too groundbreaking (by which I mean, related to Half-Life 3) has been found so far, there have been lots of neat discoveries found in earlier versions of lots of titles.
Outside of a beta version of GLaDOS that the internet is doing its usual thing with, in my opinion the most interesting thing to come from the Steam leak so far has nothing to do with a Valve game. Instead, it’s a beta version of Mafia 2 that finally lets us see the game’s original, much more depressing ending in all its glory.
